What makes a dream relationship? After the initial meet-cute and sexy ice cream kiss and inability to stay away from each other, Noah (Adam Brody) and Joanne (Kristen Bell) leave their honeymoon phase behind and become a “we” in “Nobody Wants This” Season 2.
The Season 2 trailer catches up with our favorite hot rabbi and his podcasting girlfriend as they merge their lives moving forward; bringing friends together, spending time with each other’s parents, and continuing to tiptoe around or walk right into the conversation about religion (during a dinner party, no less!). Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons reprise their roles as Joanne and Noah’s siblings, respectively, as well as Jackie Tohn as Noah’s sister-in-law Esther.
“Nobody Wants This” came from creator Erin Foster’s podcast and partly from her own life experience as she converted to Judaism in a relationship. She told IndieWire in 2024 about ratcheting up the stakes by making the love interest a rabbi. Ahead of the 2025 Emmys, she shared that “Nobody Wants This” was originally intended to be more in line with “Fleabag” (featuring a hot rabbi and a hot priest you can see the vision) before the hit series ultimately found a different tone.
“It’s sweet, and it’s soft,” Foster told IndieWire. “I set out to make ‘Fleabag,’ and I ended up making a sweet rom-com. I was like, ‘OK, it’s not the edgy thing that I thought I was making, but it’s actually really sweet.’ Then it turned out that was its superpower.”
Returning guest stars in Season 2 include Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Emily Arlook, Sherry Cola, D’Arcy Carden, Shiloh Berman, with Brody’s real-life wife Leighton Meester, Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, Arian Moayed (Lupe’s “Succession” costar), Kate Berlant, and Seth Rogen, who appears for the first time this season.
Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan serve as Season 2 showrunners. The series is executive produced by Konner, Kaplan, Steven Levitan, Kristen Bell, Sara Foster, Danielle Stokdyk, Jeff Morton, and Nora Silver, with Oly Obst for 3Arts Entertainment.
“Nobody Wants This” Season 2 premieres October 23 on Netflix.
